is the senior pastor of Liberty Temple Full Gospel Church and
World Outreach Ministries in Chicago, Illinois. She is a
powerful and fiery preacher, prophetess, and teacher to the
nation, with a cutting edge message to God’s people. Pastor
Lathon has been anointed by God in the area of church
administration and finance and has a burden to see order come to
the House of God. She has an uncompromising call to holiness for
the people of today and because of it, thousands have turned
their hearts toward God.
Sheraine Lathon joined Liberty Temple in 1984. She was ordained
Elder and Minister of the Gospel in November 1987. She has
served as Administrator and Chief Financial Officer at Liberty
Temple for over 18 years. In December 1999, after 15 years of
the then Elder Lathon’s dedication to God and the ministry,
Apostle Clifford E. Turner, Ph.D. (founder and overseer of
Liberty Temple and Pastor Lathon’s mentor and father in the
gospel), ordained this dynamic ministry gift as Senior Pastor of
Liberty Temple – Chicago.
Pastor Lathon is a dedicated servant of God whose ministry is
born out of her relationship, loyalty, and commitment to God’s
service. She is a tremendous Prayer Warrior, who leads and
guides the church into deeper levels of commitment to God by
calling the House to greater levels of prayer, fasting, and
consecration to the Lord. Through her efforts, a School of the
Prophets has been established to train the Body of Christ to
hear, discern, and accurately deliver the Word of the Lord to a
dying world.
She has established an early Sunday morning church service to
specifically reach the Sunday workforce as well as those who are
seeking God, but are not comfortable with the length of
traditional church services. To supplement the church’s Sunday
school curriculum, she has established Life Application classes
that assist in the emotional, mental, and physical healing of
the saints as well as their continued spiritual growth.
Pastor Lathon has mothered the motherless, encouraged the
depressed and despondent, prayed for the sick, and labored with
families through various crises. Out of her dedication to God’s
people, she has established ministries for every stage of life
growth and development, from the babies to senior adults;
married couples as well as singles. Pastor Lathon reaches out to
the Chicago Metropolitan Area by participating in and training
Hospice volunteers to minister to HIV/AIDS patients and other
terminally ill patients and their families. She established the
church’s Care Committee that ministers to those in need of
prayer and hospital or home visits. She established a Social
Services Committee that reaches out to victims of HIV/AIDS as
well as to substance abusers, the homeless and those in
shelters. She participates in citywide prayer initiatives with
other pastors of all races and denominations, praying for
business and government leaders, and encouraging the Church to
support our nation’s political process on every level of
government. Pastor Lathon is currently serving on a board of
ministerial advisors for the State of Illinois Attorney General
Lisa Madigan.
As one of God’s Scribes, she helps in the writing of training
and instruction manuals for the ministry. Pastor Lathon was also
nominated and her name appears in publications of 1998/1999
Who’s Who in the Midwest, 1998/99/2000 International Who’s Who
of Professional Management, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who of
American Women, Who’s Who in the World, NAFE (National
Association of Female Executives), and International Who’s Who
of Professional and Business Women.
Pastor Lathon received her A.A.S. degree from Prairie State
College (where she merited a placement in “Who’s Who Among
Junior College Students” in 1972). She earned her Bachelor’s and
Master’s degree in Church Administration in 1992, and 1994
respectively. In 1997 she obtained a Doctorate of Divinity from
Friends International University. She is an Associate Professor
at Logos Ministerial Training Institute and Friends
International University, where she specializes in Church
History, Homiletics, and Hermeneutics.
Pastor Lathon gives honor to her husband, Willie Lathon, and her
sons, Eric and Chris, for their sacrifices, prayers, and
encouragement in allowing her to pursue God’s plan for her life.
